Wilbur Pit Bull Terrier Adult - Adoption, Rescue for sale in Delaware, Ohio

Wilbur is such a lover! He wants nothing more than to give you kisses, sit in your lap, and get belly rubs. He snorts like a pig when he gets excited and loves everyone. He has been good with kids, LOVES all people, and was friendly in initial meetings with other dogs, but has not done well with a number of dogs in adoptive/trial adoption homes. He is required to be adopted as an only dog. Wilbur likes toys, but has no issue if you take them away. He's got a good start on manners, but it takes him a while to pick things up and he could use a little more work to be the very best gentleman he can be!Here's a note from a previous home: Wilbur is great on the leash and only pulls when he wants to greet someone. He is VERY social with EVERYONE. He is great with adults & kids! He's VERY affectionate & very pushy for love. Wilbur has been working on sit and will sometimes give his paw. He paces the house to let you know he has to potty. He LOVES to jump into your lap while you're getting ready to sit down. While he's doing that to give you a hug, you have to make him wait to be invited & we were making progress on that. But he can catch you off guard & 78lbs is hard to catch!Wilbur is fearful of TV remotes and hands sometimes. It's going to take an understanding person to not spank him or yell at his gentle soul. He needs positive reinforcement & gentle touches. He might look tough, but he's a little scared. When people come to the door, he never barks & never jumps. He's the first one there to be petted.Wilbur had separation anxiety starting after a month after being with us. He was smart enough to get out of a wire cage 3 times and even figured out how to chew off zip ties. I would recommend a steel crate, since he will chew on things if left alone. If you let him sleep in your bed, he stays still all night & will not tear anything up. He is VERY gentle with taking food & treats (but cannot catch! LOL).For 2 months, he was fine with the other 2 dogs and played great with the female. He didn't do well with the male dog - not sure if it was all his fault. (He has since has issues with a female he lives with for a few days.) Whoever his new family is, PLEASE show him all the love you can. He wants all to give as much love as he receives.
