9 yrs. old, we don't know his actual b-day so we are making it 3/7/08. Owner surrender

terminally ill.
Pepper is good on a leash and has a sweet personality.  Pepper had knee surgery, so his legs tend to get sore with activity so he has shorts bursts when excited.   He enjoys chewing on bully sticks and strolling around the yard sniffing and rolling in the grass.  He gets excited when other dogs play but does not join in.  He is very submissive with other dogs.   I have been unable to engage him with toys although he gets excited when I attempt to play with him.  This may have to do with the soreness in his legs. He absolutely loves treats and will sit and beg for them.  He gives kisses and affection freely.  He does not go up and down stairs but will jump up and down one step. So friendly, playful and sweet! He would not do well in a home with young children as Pepper guards his food. He will need a low activity home since he is unable to take walks or play extensively due to his legs and will limp pretty regularly although he doesnt seem unusually bothered by it.  He also has a collapsed trachea, but is well managed on low cost medication.
 Pepper is eligible for our Senior to Senior program - Approved Adopters, Age 65 and older, will receive $100 off adoption fee towards adoption of any dog age 7 & older.
